Continuing to explore what Mile End has to offer, I had the pleasure of eating at Danny St Pierre’s new restaurant Petite Maison which is hidden on the strip of Parc between Bernard and St-Viateur.  The small little restaurant is brand new and the staff were enthusiastic to show me around as they led me to my seat.

Although new, the place filled up very quickly.  The location is made of three connecting rooms including a bar and I imagine during the winter most people would want to be seated at the back away from the door.

The location serves lunch and brunch and the menu is fairly grown up.  This isn’t a sandwich joint.

The food was wonderful and for $20 you get an entrée (appetizer) and a rather large main.  Actually, my main was huge and I couldn’t even finish it.  I don’t know if the prices will change, but I was very impressed.

I had the smoked salmon with celeriac remoulade and it was so wonderful.  The bread and butter was to die for too.  I don’t know where they get their butter from, but it was so much nicer than what we have at home.

Drinks are made using home made syrups and were also wonderful.

Overall I loved my experience and would definitely go back.  I don’t think I would bring the kids though.  The location and place itself is somewhat kid friendly, except for some steep stairs to get to the front door, but nothing about the menu says kid to me.  My picky toddler would probably turn his nose up at everything on that menu.  If you are looking for a kid friendly spot in the area try Em Café.

Decor: Cute photos on the wall, nice napkins, a cute vibe.

Service: Great!  Everyone was very positive and upbeat.

Prices: For the quality of food and quantity it’s a great great deal.

Food: Excellent and something a bit different from the usual lunch offerings.

Good For: Lunch out with friends, lunch out with family (there was a large Outremont crowd present).

Baby Friendly: I suppose you could bring along your baby but I’m not sure most toddlers would love the place and the room didn’t really have that vibe for me.
