A friend of mine suggested that we visit the Exporail, otherwise known as the train museum, on Montreal’s South Shore in St-Constant.  It was a hit!

Exporail Montreal | Exporail Montreal | RoastedMontreal.comIf your kids are even halfway into trains they will love this place.  The site is huge and features both interior and exterior displays.  Inside there is a huge warehouse with full size trains and many of the trains allow the kids to go right inside.  Even if it was cold outside, just the interior display would make for a great activity and the location is roomy enough that kids can move around and get out all their energy.Exporail Montreal | Exporail Montreal | Exporail Montreal | RoastedMontreal.comOutside there is a mini train and streetcar (see schedule here for when they are running). Exporail Montreal | Exporail Montreal | Exporail Montreal | RoastedMontreal.comThere is also a miniature train display which my son went wild over.  Exporail Montreal | Exporail Montreal | RoastedMontreal.comExporail Montreal | Exporail Montreal | RoastedMontreal.comI really recommend it for a great day out!

Do you have any other ideas for great days out in the Montreal area or have you ever been to the train museum?

Originally from the prairies and now in Montreal, I love exploring new places, eating great food and modern design. I'm mom of two wild things and paper and cake make me happy. Photographing your cutie family would make me very happy.
