Things to Do Before You Hit Primary School

My post last week about things to do during the summer got me thinking about things I want to do with my kid(s) before they hit primary school… i.e. a toddler bucket list.  I’ve always been goal oriented, and it works people.  Plus I don’t want to look back on these years which are slipping… away… so… fast and think… ahhh I wish my son had that experience.

Now, it’s a bit hard for me to envision exactly what my child is capable of at 5 years old but I assume he would be able to do most if not all of these.

What do you think?  Too ambitious?  Not enough?  Do you have a list or am I the only one?

And here it is!

  • camp out in the wild or at least spend the night in a tent
  • fly a kite
  • catch a fish
  • pick raspberries in the wild
  • visit a farm
  • plant, grow and eat some sort of vegetable
  • go swimming in the sea
  • cook on an open fire
  • go on a canoe adventure (for the day!)
  • bake a cake
  • pick our own pumpkin and help carve it
  • pick fresh strawberries
  • go to the zoo
  • ride the metro
  • ride the bus
  • paint rocks and make pet rocks
  • swim in the lake
  • go for a long walk and take a picnic
  • visit cousin Charlie in London
  • fly in grandpa’s plane

What did I miss?

ps I took some of these ideas from the excellent National Trust guide on ‘50 things to do before you are 11 3/4
