Montreal, Westmount House Interior

So, last week I hinted that we needed a new table and set of kitchen chairs but I didn’t explain why because I wanted some photos to go along with the announcement that we are MOVING!

But we aren’t moving far!

My husband is always on MLS sending me listings and I always say no, no, no…. until he sent me this house in Westmount which seemed so right for so many reasons.  It was built in 1904 and has so much going for it.

Basically we just fell in love with the house.  I think we were secretly hoping that when we saw it in person it wouldn’t be as fabulous as in the pictures as, let’s face it, moving is a lot of work.  But – it was even better.

So we took a look at the house and just new it would move fast.  We hmmed and hawed for a while and finally I just said to my husband – if it’s our dream house let’s just go for it and see what happens.  You just have to take a risk every once in a while and this seemed not so risky in the scheme of things.  We know the neighbourhood, it has a nice backyard which our current house lacks, close to a great school and parks, and it’s just that bit bigger to accommodate our growing family.

Plus there are no renovations to be done and we love what the owner did with it.  So many times we saw fully renovated homes that just were not done to our style.  This one just has it all for us (although there are a few things we will be doing to give it our personal touch!)

Westmount Home Radiator

There’s just so much for us to explore in our house and it’s all the details that make it just that extra special like the exposed stone foundation in the basement, the huge windows in the kitchen and master bedroom, parquet flooring, all the elegant cornices in the house and the light from two big skylights.

We move mid-July and I can’t wait to start sharing photos of our new abode.  I’m a little new at properly decorating a house (versus throwing up photos here and there) so it will be a learning process.  But, I really want to make this place great.  It’s the third house we own and I finally feel like I’m ready to start really thinking about how I want things to look.

Kære Michelle flotte billeder, detaljer du ikke får i et nyt hus. Det er næsten på alder med vores hus her i Haderslev. Stort tillykke

This house looks amazing! Congrats! It has a lot of lovely original features which add so much charm. Would look pretty cool with some modern Danish moebler:) enjoy putting it all together.
