My makeup routine really depends on what I am doing that day, and how I feel.  Somedays I definitely put in more effort than others.  But, I always feel a little bit better about myself when I do.  And I always cringe just a little when I run into someone and I am totally makeup free with chapped lips and dark circles under my eyes.  As you can see from above my makeup routine is not that complicated… I have some good brushes I paid a lot of money when I probably couldn’t afford it, but they are still in great shape and I’m still using them over a decade later (I wash them regularly people!)  I have a few good basic shades.  And every year my Mom buys me a new MAC eyeshadow palette so I can have a little shakeup in my routine.  You can see the latest in blush sitting in the tray.

Beauty gifts are always fun to get, for me anyways.  It’s not something I usually treat myself too, and sometimes the new shades or tools push me to experiment a bit more.  Sephora always has some great picks, and here are a few of my faves below.

artis_essential_set_Opened_HiRes

Stila Artist Essential Set – $71 ($227 value)

From super fun beauty brand Stila, this set of eyeshadows, liners, lipsticks, and a brush will allow for some serious looks from demure (i.e. everyday) to sexy vixen (what I attempt but seem to never pull off).

bareMinerals Complexion Superstars 2

Bare Minerals Complexion Superstars – $49 ($126 value)

I haven’t really discovered the world of minerals yet, but they seem to be the rage and this kit looks like the perfect introduction for a blowy perfect complexion.

Eric T. White

Fresh Sugar Kisses Mini Lip Trio – $32 ($39 value)

I always am searching for lip gloss and sometimes end up sticking lotion on my lips. Gross I know, why don’t I just buy some more chapstick?  Or these, which seem so much prettier.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Lightshow Luminizing Powder

Marc Jacobs Lightshow Luminizing Powder – $71

OK, so not a gift set but it’s from Marc Jacobs new makeup collection people!  And it’s universally flattering!

Ole Henriksen

Ole Henriksen Ole La La Glow from Head to Toe Blockbuster Set – $99 ($219 value)

As I’m starting to get a wee bit older I’m starting to think of my skin more and more.  This kit is loaded with goodies to brighten up my tired face.

Good suggestions! Would love that stila set 😉
I have a bareMinerals powder foundation and I do love it, though I find that the finish is perhaps a little too powdery for winter (or most likely, my skin is not properly hydrated AND I’m not using it properly, lol!). Or maybe I’m just looking at myself in the mirror too closely when I wear it, haha!
I also have a FRESH sugar lip product (in PETAL). I like because it’s a little tinted but not overkill!

Oooh – I’ve always wanted to try a powder foundation but now I’m a bit nervous because I have dry pale skin! Maybe I’ll save it for the summer!
