Chilango
27 Upper Street
London N1 0PN

Good++

Chilango is a popular burrito joint located on Islington’s busy upper street.  It opened up about a year ago (or is it already 2 years ago?) and has been receiving rave reviews ever since.

As usual, I got the pork/black bean/guacamole/medium salsa combo.  They do not offer the two salsa option (with a spicy salsa and the tomatoes) but I found that the burrito had enough moisture without it.  The pork was really a stand out and was very soft and tender with lots of flavour bursting through.  Same with the guacomole, which I could really taste.

The location which I visited on a Friday night is bustling, with bright black and green accents.  They do offer various alcoholic drinks as well, which I didn’t try.  The staff were friendly even though the lineup was quite long.  The prices though, are the highest out of all 4.  GBP6.70 for the pork burrito plus another quid for the guacamole.

I would completely recommend Chilango’s.  I think it’s one of the best burrito joints in London, and I think the decor and location.  The meat was good, the burrito was massive (I couldn’t finish it) and it had great flavour.

Decor: Bright with lots of sitting space (well for this type of takeaway joint)
Price: The most expensive out of the bunch, but you get quality.
Food: Great fresh flavours and spices
Good For: Anytime!
